RCOS Observatory
The 10' by 12' rolloff observatory houses the 16'' RC Optical Systems Ritchey-Chretien Telescope mounted on a Software Bisque Paramount ME. The steel Software Bisque pier for the telescope is bolted to an isolated steel-reinforced concrete pier that extends 6' below ground level. The V-groove casters for the rolloff roof roll on top of a 1/2" inverted angle iron track. The motorized roof is driven by a Backyard Observatories rack and gear system.
